American Photography Awards Open Call for Entries

Early Bird Deadline: March 31, 2013

The American Photography Awards are an international open call for photography possessing uncommon vision. This opportunity is open to photographers of all backgrounds who capture images that make the unknowable known. Our goal is to celebrate the most iconic photos taken by new and emerging talent, as well as professionals, from around the world and award their photographic insights.

Categories

Recognizing photos that captivate us also free us to identify our desires, we invite ALL types of photographers — professional, non-professional/amateur, student and mobile photography— in the following categories: Abstract, Advertising, Architecture/Cityscape, Collage, Documentary, Experimental, Fashion, Landscape/Seascape/Nature, Nudes, People/Portraits, Political, Photojournalism, Still Life, Street Photography, Video/Moving Images.

Awards & Exhibition

Grand Prize: Photographer of the Year

The winner of the Photographer of the Year Award will receive:

  1. $2,500 Honorarium
  2. Gallery Representation
  3. Work exhibited in the U.S. and Australia
  4. Photos featured in Fabrik Magazine and blog — viewed by collectors, galleries and curators throughout the world
  5. Work published in the American Photography Annual, a new iPad/Android App showcasing the World’s Best Photography
  6. Invitation to participate on ArtCapitol.com, an online platform that promotes and sells art to thousands of collectors worldwide
  7. Press release and newsletter announcements to over 65,000 collectors, galleries, art directors and advertising executives

Emerging Photographer of the Year

The winner of the Emerging Photographer of the Year Award will receive:

  1. $1,000 Honorarium
  2. Gallery Representation
  3. Work exhibited in the U.S. and Australia
  4. Photos featured in Fabrik Magazine and blog — viewed by collectors, galleries and curators throughout the world
  5. Work published in the American Photography Annual, a new iPad/Android App showcasing the World’s Best Photography

Mobile Photographer of the Year

The winner of the Mobile Photographer of the Year Award will receive:

14 Category Winners

The overall winner in each Category will receive the following:

Additionally, ALL entrants will be reviewed for participation on ArtCapitol.com, an online platform that promotes and sells art to thousands of collectors worldwide.

Eligibility

This Call for Entries is open to all photographers of all backgrounds — professional, non-professional/amateur, student, mobile photography.

Entry Fees*:

Professionals: Single Image: $35 USD; Series (2 to 5 images): $60 USD

Non-Professionals: Single Image: $25 USD; Series (2 to 5 images): $50 USD

Students: Single Image: $20 USD; Series (2 to 5 images): $30 USD

Mobile Photography: Single Image: $20 USD; Series (2 to 5 images): $30 USD

*Note: Discounts apply if you submit your photos by March 31, 2013

Jurors

Your work will be reviewed by an esteemed panel of judges from the worlds of photography, art, publishing, education and cultural institutions.
