Map It

National Call for Artists - Deadline: July 1st, 2013

Are you a map lover? Do you love to incorporate maps / globes / map concepts in your artwork creations? If so, then this is the “Map It” theme juried exhibit for you!  Open to all media.  The main rule…Seeing some sort of map within the art piece. This will be both an online and a gallery exhibit.

ELIGIBILITY
Open to anyone 18 years or older residing in the United States.

ENTRY FEE
The entry fee (non-refundable) is $25.00 for the first 2 pieces of artwork and $5.00 per piece after that, not to exceed 6 entry pieces total. Fee is payable either by check, made out to Riverside Arts Center, or online via Credit Card or Paypal.

CASH PRIZES (total $2000)
  • 1st Place - $800
  • 2nd Place - $600
  • 3rd Place - $400 Honorable Mentions - $200 (total)
CALENDAR
  • 07/01/2013: Entry deadline (postmarked) - 07/09/2013: Notification of acceptance
  • 07/28/2013: Artwork delivery deadline
  • 08/01/2013: Exhibit opens
  • 08/03/2013: Artists' reception (5-7pm) - 08/24/2013: Exhibit ends
  • 08/25/2013: Pick up Artwork (10:30am-2pm) - 08/26/2013: Shipping back artwork begins GUIDELINES FOR

ABOUT THE JUROR
Barbara Brown began her artistic sojourn many years ago while working with textiles. This eventually became a bridge to her career as a paper and book artist.

Barbara has been an artist member of WSG Gallery since 2004 and curates Beyond Words: A Celebration of Book Arts each year. She has had work in book shows around the country and in special collections at the University of Michigan Harlan Hatcher Graduate Library, the University of Michigan School of Art and Design Library, and the Library of Michigan in Lansing.

She is on the faculty of The Hollanders School of Book and Paper Arts in Ann Arbor where she has also been a guiding member of four summer residencies, the Rudolf Steiner High School of Ann Arbor, and, most recently, an adjunct instructor at the University of Michigan School of Art and Design. She was the recipient of the 3rd Annual Kerrytown Community Book Award given at the 2008 Kerrytown BookFest.
