Embracing
Our Differences
Call to Artists - Cash Awards &
Juried Exhibit - Deadline: January 6th, 2014
The mission of Embracing Our Differences® is to use the arts
as a catalyst for creating awareness and promoting,
throughout our community, the value of diversity, the benefits of
inclusion and the significance of the active
rejection of hatred and prejudice. Embracing Our Differences® 2014, the
outdoor art exhibit, will contain 39 billboard-sized original works of
art measuring 16 feet wide by 12.5 feet high (4.8768 m wide by 3.8100 m
high). Each selection is accompanied by an inspirational quote. The
exhibit will be displayed during April & May, 2014 in Sarasota,
Bradenton, and North Port, Florida. Since 2004, Embracing Our
Differences® has been viewed by more than one million
visitors. During the same period, 117,000 students
and teachers attended the exhibit – free of charge thanks to our School
Bus Program – for a firsthand observation and discussion concerning the
importance of diversity in our lives. After viewing the
exhibit, one 8-year old student poignantly commented, “I learned that
everyone is going to be someone.” We invite you to participate in
creating a society that is more inclusive for all. Consider submitting
an original work of art and know that you are helping to make a
difference in the lives of many, especially those of our children.
