This is an open Call for Submissions from artists all over the USA for
an exhibit in our gallery, The Brooklyn
Waterfront Artists Coalition (BWAC) – an 8000 sf Civil
War-era
warehouse on the Red Hook waterfront. With its trendy
restaurants, bars, boutiques and billion dollar view of
the Statue of Liberty and New York Harbor, it’s an exciting place to
visit and EXHIBIT. The enormous space of the gallery affords
us the opportunity to exhibit really huge work, and we welcome it. We
are fortunate to be joined by a prestigious juror – Brooke Kamin
Rapaport, former curator in Contemporary Art at the Brooklyn Museum of
Art and guest curator at NY’s Jewish Museum. With her
experience, expect an exceptionally exciting exhibition.

About The
Juror
Brooke Kamin Rapaport is an independent curator and contemporary art
writer. She is a former curator in the contemporary art
department of the Brooklyn Museum.
As guest curator at The Jewish Museum in New York, she organized
Houdini: Art and Magic, an interdisciplinary exhibition on the life and
enduring significance in visual culture of the magician and escape
artist, Harry Houdini (2010). Yale University Press published the
exhibition catalogue. The show traveled to venues in Los Angeles, San
Francisco, and Madison, Wisconsin. Ms. Rapaport also served as guest
curator at The Jewish Museum for The Sculpture of Louise Nevelson:
Constructing a Legend, a 2007 survey exhibition that toured to the Fine
Arts Museums of San Francisco, de Young. The accompanying catalogue,
published by Yale University Press, won the New York State Historical
Association's Henry Allen Moe Prize for Catalogues of Distinction in
the Arts in 2009.
She is a contributing editor and frequent writer for Sculpture magazine.
Ms. Rapaport is on the Board of Directors of Socrates Sculpture Park in
Long Island City and the Advisory Committee of Madison Square Park in
New York. She is a former chair and current member of the Board of the
Mead Art Museum at Amherst College. She is a graduate of Amherst
College and received an M.A. from Rutgers University. She was a Helena
Rubinstein Fellow in the Whitney Museum's Independent Study Program.
Ms. Rapaport lives in New York.

BEST of SHOW: $1000.00 At the Opening
Reception, the artist whose work is juried as ‘Best of Show’ by Brooke
Kamin Rapaport will receive a $1,000 cash prize.
PEOPLES’ CHOICE: $500.00 The artist
whose work is voted ‘Best’ by attendees at the Show Opening will
receive a $500 cash prize. and a complimentary one-year BWAC membership.
CURATORS’ CHOICE: $250.00 The artist whose work the Show
Curator chooses for excellence will receive a $250.00 cash prize and a
complimentary one-year BWAC membership.
BESTS in CATEGORY: $1100 $100
each in the following: Painting: Bests in Oil,
Acrylic and Watercolor; Photography: Bests in Traditional
film and Digital formats; Best in Pastel/Drawing/Print; Best in
Computer Graphic Art; Best in Mixed Media; Best in Sculpture;
Best in Assemblage/Installation, Best in Fabric
Art. All selections will be made by the juror,
Brooke Kamin Rapaport .
Bonus Offer
Artists accepted into Color can also send one additional work that will
be exhibited in our Affordable Art area. All works must be smaller than
12” x 16” and must be priced for sale at $500 or under.

Color: This juried show looks to
explore this idea of “color” in all the hidden niches of our collective
psyche.

ELIGIBILITY: This call for submission is
open to all residents of the U.S. and its Territories, 18 years of age
or older. This is a juried exhibition for artists working in all
traditional and non-traditional 2D and 3D media, including film/video
when part of an installation. All artwork must be original in concept,
design and execution. Note: Crafts, kit work or reproductions of
original works in other media (such as giclee print of oil painting),
unless used as part of a mixed media work, will not be considered.
Oversize Work, Assemblages and Installations are welcome at
the discretion of BWAC, but must meet all other specifications and be
delivered, installed and removed by the artist (or their agent) upon
arrangement with BWAC staff. All work requiring
electricity must auto on/off with the line power.
JURYING: Entries
that differ significantly from their digital images may be rejected.
Decision of the judges is final.
SUBMISSIONS AND FEES: Only original
works may be submitted. Submission fee is
$65. This fee is for up to three (3) images, plus $5 for each
additional image. Sculpture and installations: artists may use two
additional images for details, at no extra charge. Contact
