Shot 2012: Competition

The Biggs Museum is pleased to announce a “call for entries” for the
Biggs Shot 2012 Photography Competition. Biggs Shot 2012, the third
juried photography competition hosted by the Biggs Museum will feature
the work of professional and emerging photographers, working and/or
living in the Mid-Atlantic region.
The theme for Biggs Shot 2012 is open, and any photographic medium can
be submitted for consideration, including film, video and digital
formats. The competition is open to all photographers, both amateur and
professional living in Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C. ,
Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The deadline for entries is September 15,

Awards
The selected photographs will be showcased in the Biggs Shot 2012
exhibition at the Biggs Museum from November 2, 2012 through
February 17, 2013. First Place - $1500 Purchase Prize.
Deadline
All entries must be received or postmarked by September 15, 2012.
Completed entries must include the entry form, payment of entry fee,
submitted electronic files and a copy of the entrant’s resume.
Fees
A non-refundable fee of $35 entitles the photographer to submit three
works to the competition. Additional works may be submitted for $5 per
work. The Biggs Museum accepts Cash, Check, VISA, MasterCard or
Discover.
Eligibility
The competition is open to all photographers, both amateur and
professional of Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC,
Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.
Notification
The selected photographs will be announced on the Biggs Museum web-site
on October 8, 2012. Photographers with selected photographs will also
be notified by mail and will receive details for delivery and
presentation of work for the exhibition. Selected works must be
delivered to the Biggs Museum by October 28, 2012.
Specifications
All works must be submitted electronically via e-mail or CD. Only
submissions following the proper format as outlined below will be
accepted.
A. Label the electronic file or CD with your name, contact e-mail and
phone number, the entry # and title, and “Biggs Shot 2012”.
B. Send the submitted image sized and saved at 72 dpi by 900 pixels in
longest dimension in JPEG format for viewing and at 300 dpi by 1800
pixels in longest dimension in TIFF format for reproduction purposes.
*The Biggs Museum reserves the right to amend a selection if an actual
print differs significantly from a slide or digital representation.
Works for Sale:Applicants must indicate prior to the selection process
if their works are for sale. The Biggs Museum retains a 25% commission
on all works sold in the galleries and will issue checks to the
photographers after the exhibition closes. Exhibited works must be
removed from the museum no later than February 24, 2013.
