DEADLINE OCTOBER 15, 2009 Exhibit your Photographs in New York City Contests, Juried Art Shows - Photography Art Gallery FOLEYgallery is now accepting applications for The Summer Show Project 2010!The Summer Show Project offers the unique chance for artists to work directly with the gallery, creating new work to be curated in a group exhibition.This new initiative will provide an opportunity for emerging photographers to have their work seen, recognized and reviewed by fellow artists, gallery directors, book editors, as well as curators from museum and corporate collections. Upon acceptance, you will work on your own and with the guidance of gallery owner Michael Foley to create new work dedicated to a theme that will be suggested by the curatorial panel. A total of 12 photographers will be selected by the panel to participate.From January to April you will meet with Michael Foley either in the gallery or via iChat/Skype for two 30 minute sessions where you can discuss your progress and share what you have been working on.In May, a final edit will be made and two photographs from each photographer will be curated into a group exhibition at FOLEYgallery opening in June 2010. In addition to the work of these 12 photographers, additional selections will be curated into the show from some of the most well known contemporary photographers working today.This is the first year for The summer Show Project. DEADLINE OCTOBER 18, 2009 - $5000 in Awards THE FOUR SEASONS PHOTOGRAPHY JURIED COMPETITION Online Event - Contests, Juried Art Shows - Photography Art Organization Organized by The Worldwide Photography Gala Awards, The Fours Seasons Competition is open to professional and non professional photographers who will compete together in color and black and white. The theme for this contest is the celebration of the Four Seasons: Spring, Summer, Winter and Autumn. All images should have a seasonal element and be submitted based on the season appropriate to the location in which it was taken. WPGA would like to see images celebrating the seasons -in landscapes, cityscapes, people at work or on holidays, as well as images expressing the impact of the seasons on living conditions. In this sense documentary images are also welcome provided they represent a story related to a specific season. Although documentary can but does not necessarily mean drama and tragedy: it can also relate the joy of a summer camp or the happiness of a good harvest. For this contest there will be only one juror, G.M.B. Akash, photographer from Bangladesh who has an extraordinary professional trajectory, having been awarded by World Press Photo 2006 and selected as one of the 30 emerging photographers by the magazine Photographic District News (PDN 30). He'll be the juror and will host the winner in an amazing trip to Nepal, India or Bangladesh (location to be decided by the winner) that constitutes the prize of The Four Seasons Contest.THE PRIZE: The winner of WPGA The Four Seasons contest will be awarded a paid trip, including lodging, to Nepal, India or Bangladesh, where he will have the chance to work with G.M.B. The exhibition is open to original artwork created after January 1, 2007 in ten categories - Acrylic Painting, Digital Art, Fiber Art, Mixed Media, Oil Painting, Pastel, Printmaking/Drawing, Photography, Sculpture & Watercolor Painting. Artwork is to be hand delivered Oct. 19 and 20 or ship by October 12 for consideration by Juror, Daniel Stetson, Executive Director, Polk Museum of Art, Lakeland. Daniel Stetson brings an extensive curatorial and museum background to the 48th Founders jury process. During his 30 year career in the arts, Stetson has curated numerous exhibitions, developed art collections, taught museum studies and art history and judged numerous outdoor art festivals and exhibitions around the country. A total of $2,500 in cash awards will be given to artists during the preview reception. We are an artist-run arts organization dedicated to promoting emerging artists. The exhibition will include thirty artists; invitations will be sent to over 30,000 galleries, collectors, and fellow artists. Visitors have the option of contacting any participating artist with feedback or opportunities. As of Nov. 2008 over 200,000 messages have been sent to participating artists.
