DEADLINE NOVEMBER 03, 2009 - $850 in Awards Picturing Home: Emory University's Juried Photography Exhibition Contests, Juried Art Shows - Pastel Art Gallery What is home, and where is it? What does it mean to look for home, to find home, to lose home, to be at home? In whose company does home arise? Under what circumstances? At what cost? How is "home" being impacted by the current economic crisis in America? The Visual Arts Gallery at Emory University invites submissions to a juried photography exhibition on these and related issues: images (and combinations of images and words) that investigate, comment on and test various dimensions of "home"--in its familiarity and unfamiliarity, its pleasures and discomforts, its communal and personal aspects. The exhibition's jurors are Julian Cox, curator of photography at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, and Jason Francisco, associate professor of photography and chair of the Visual Arts Department at Emory University. An entry fee of $35 ($30 for Emory staff, faculty, and alumni) for up to five digital images, and $5 each for each additional image, entitles all entrants to membership in the Friends of Emory Visual Arts. Selected photographs will be exhibited at the Emory Visual Arts Gallery from December 3, 2009 - January 29, 2010. Entry deadline: Tuesday, November 3, 2009, 5:00 pm.
