    It's hard to imagine that the last month of the year is upon us. It has been a fast year. Looking back, it is hard to believe that we are going into our seventh year of being online. We have seen many art websites and galleries come and go over the years so we are thankful to have stood the test of time. It hasn't always been easy and we owe it all to you, our faithful members and submitters. Your support of TheArtList.com throughout the years has been wonderful and kept us going.

    Going forward, we are excited for 2010 and looking to roll out some new features, welcome new members, and engage in new partnerships.

    Over the next few months, galleries, art organizations, and other contest holders will be submitting their 2010 calls and calendars so be sure to keep checking in to see what is coming around the bend in the New Year. We are really starting to see a fall ramp up with lots of submissions coming in - several with very large awards.

    McKinley Art Solutions presents:Sponsored by the UCSF National Center of Excellence in Women's Health, each part in the series invites Bay Area artists to present a body of work that interprets the idea of 'serenity' in order to inspire relaxation, well-being and calm. Begun in 2007 and now featuring artwork exhibited on five floors, the 'Serenity' series is the San Francisco Bay Area's largest continuous exhibit focused on positive, healing and uplifting artwork open to all 2D and wall hung 3D media. Curator: Matt McKinley Eligibility includes all 2D and wall hung 3D media in the following styles: still life, sea/sky/landscapes, urbanscape, figurative (non-nude), abstract, realism. Contact prior to submitting 3D wall hung work to get approval for your installation system. This exhibit is produced by Matt McKinley of McKinley Art Solutions and sponsored by UCSF National Center of Excellence in Women's Health.     The Best of the USA

    A call for submission of original works of art for "The Best of the USA," including, but not limited to painting, sculpture, glasswork, ceramics, drawing, and assemblage. Artists at least 18 years of age from within the United States are eligible to participate in the juried competition. The Best of the Show will be offered gallery representation. The gallery will take a 40% commission on artwork we sell. All art must be available for sale for the duration of the exhibition. Our goal is to have art from each of the 50 states.Exhibition Dates: January 14, 2010, through February 6, 2010 The exhibit will be held in our gallery in the heart of Historic Downtown Sanford, as well as on our gallery website, and in our exhibition binder which will be available for viewing in the gallery during and after the show. Artist's bios, statements and images provided by the artist of their accepted works will be included. The exhibition will remain on our website and in our gallery binder for at least thirty days after the show has concluded, giving the artists greater exposure.

    Projekt30 is taking submissions for our February 2010 publicly juried exhibition. We are an artist-run arts organization dedicated to promoting emerging artists. The exhibition will include thirty artists; invitations will be sent to over 30,000 galleries, collectors, and fellow artists. Visitors have the option of contacting any participating artist with feedback or opportunities. As of October 2009 over 284,000 messages have been sent to participating artists. All artwork submitted will be presented online prior to the exhibition so visitors may help select which artists will be included in the exhibition. Unlike other juried exhibitions, all participants receive exposure. Opens: February 1, 2010. Public Jury: January 15-29, 2009. Deadline: January 1, 2009.     Embracing Our Differences

    Embracing Our Differences invites artists, photographers, professionals, amateurs, teachers and students to participate in its 7th annual visual art exhibit celebrating diversity. National and international submissions are encouraged. 45 artists will be selected for the exhibit. The Embracing Our Differences exhibit will be displayed throughout the month of April 2010 at Island Park along Sarasota's beautiful bayfront. The exhibit will also be displayed throughout the month of May 2010 in North Port, Florida. Since 2004, the exhibit has been viewed by more than 550,000 visitors. The exhibit will contain 39 billboard-sized (16 feet wide by 12 1/2 feet high) images of the selected artworks. An additional six "honorable mention" selections will be made.Final selections will be chosen based on artistic excellence in reflection of the theme "Embracing Our Differences". The art-work will also be evaluated on how effectively it will read outdoors when enlarged to billboard size - 16 feet wide by 12 1/2 feet high. Artists are encouraged to use bold saturated colors and strong lines. Final selections will be made by a 3-judge panel of professional artists, curators and art professionals. A total of $3,000.00 in awards will be presented.Deadline for submission is January 12, 2010.     BLUE SKY PROJECT SEEKS ARTIST'S PROPOSALS FOR 2010 SUMMER RESIDENCY. CREATIVE PROFESSIONALS: VISUAL ARTISTS, ARTIST/ACTIVISTS, FILMMAKERS, WRITERS, DANCERS, MUSICIANS, THEATER PERFORMERS, AND PEOPLE WORKING IN OTHER CREATIVE MEDIA ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY. As a Blue Sky Artist-In-Residence, you will cross-pollinate with other practicing artists, collaborate with teens, expand your ideas and add artistic breadth and depth to the Dayton community. Relocated for 2009 to Ohio from our original location in Illinois, artists gather for eight weeks from mid-June to mid August at the University of Dayton, located 2 miles from downtown Dayton. Monday - Thursday, from 10-3:30 are devoted to intensive collaborations between each individual artist and a small group of six to eight local teen participants, culminating in a final exhibition. Artists-in-Residence invent the remaining structure, working together or individually on projects. Our hope is that the projects will seep out, intervene, enhance and impact the community. Your recent studio practice & new ideas should provide the foundation for your activities. Because of the collaborative nature of Blue Sky, your project must have an open-ended structure. Your project must be achievable in eight weeks, within a $1,000 budget (excluding final exhibition expenses) and must engage others in its articulation and production. The rest is up to you. Previous projects have included: sculptural sound installation, self-published zine of local interviews, performance, musical composition, dance installation, filmmaking, photographic re-imaginings of local sites and nature interventions.

    The Jacob Riis Award

    WPGA organizes THE JACOB RIIS AWARD with the exclusive sponsorship of EYEMAZING Magazine and benefiting Save the Children Foundation. It will focus in portfolios (minimum of 8 and maximum of 12 images) inviting photographers working in all mediums, styles and schools of thought. The Award is open worldwide to all professional and amateur photographers working with digital or traditional photography or combinations of both. There is no theme for this Award, and the images will be evaluated as a cohesive body of work rather than individual images. The Award will consist in the publication of the winner portfolio in Eyemazing Magazine (to be published during 2010) and a cash prize of $ 3,000.Each portfolio should be composed of a minimum of 8 images and a maximum of 12. This is a juried exhibition for artists working in all traditional and non-traditional 2D and 3D media, except for film/video. All artwork must be original in concept, design and execution. Note: Crafts, kit work or reproductions after original works in other media (such as giclees), unless used as part of a mixed media work, will not be considered. Oversize Work, Assemblages and Installations are welcome at the discretion of BWAC, but must meet all other specifications and be delivered, installed and removed by the artist.
