    Greetings from TheArtList.com!

March has surely come in like a "Lion" in many parts of the country with recent snowfall in places that rarely receive snow. Hopefully, this will be the last "roar" of winter and the wonderful blooming of spring with come sooner than later. I always find a burst of creativity in March & April as the days get longer and warmer...

This is also a great time of year to set the stage for the rest of your art year finding ways to gain more exposure for your work. We have been seeing an increased number of art calls and opportunity announcement submissions since last fall which is a good sign that the art world is alive and vibrant. That said, we highly recommend that you login and check out the opportunities database often to see what's new and coming up. Our database changes daily as new submissions come in and old one's expire.

For those of you that are new to TheArtList, our monthly newsletter only showcases a small sample of featured listings. We have a ton more in the online database. For Premium Members, there is a great little feature on your member homepage that allows you to view all of the new submissions since the last login. When you see something of interest, just click on the "save to favorites" link at the bottom and it will automatically be saved into your "My Opportunities" Manager for later reference.

If you are an older Free Member, Expired Premium Member, or even just a member of the free mailing list, we highly recommend upgrading to a Premium Membership. The cost is only $27/year and having the ability to login and search the art call database without the interruption of full page ads is well worth the small membership fee. Upgrading is as simple as clicking on the Upgrade link in your member area.

    NOSTALGIA

Juried Photography Exhibition at PhotoPlace GalleryNOSTALGIA Deadline: midnight, Monday, March 1st Juror: Larissa Leclair, photographer, writer, and curator Photography is an art of the instant, of Cartier-Bresson's "decisive moment." But it is also an art of past moments -- records of time that no longer exists. For NOSTALGIA we are interested in photographs that investigate aspects of past time, memory, and public or personal histories. For example, photographs can allude to the past through process, by using antiquated technologies such as the tintype; through subject, by focusing on objects or people with the aura of long ago; through place, by picturing places that have private or well-known memory associations. Surprise us with your interpretations of this theme! Approximately forty photography will be chosen for exhibition at PhotoPlace Gallery, in Middlebury, Vermont. Another thirty-five photos will be selected for viewing in our On-Line Gallery Annex. All selected images will be reproduced in a full-color small format exhibition catalogue published with Blurb Books. PhotoPlace Gallery offers free matting and framing for exhibited works during the duration of the exhibition, providing prints are sized to fit our pre-cut mat and frame sizes.
