1650 Gallery is hosting a juried exhibition of photographs exploring the theme of COMMUNICATION. Photos that communicate surround us in the form of advertising, fashion, lifestyle/editorial and products. From the simplest "Don't Walk" Sign to a bus stop for Apple's iPad, photos that communicate make the world go round. Gallery 1650 welcomes your submissions in the theme of COMMUNICATION whether it be literal or conceptual.
Juror Mark Matsuno, a leading Los Angeles design and advertising professional, will choose forty photos for exhibition at 1650 Gallery in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. Of these forty submissions three will be awarded the top choices by Mr. Matsuno and will receive a cash prize for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. He will also select an addiitonal forty images for inclusion in the 1650 Online Gallery.
Selected artists may choose to offer their work for sale. The gallery retains 40% of the sale price, as well as 9.25% California sales tax. We offer free matting and framing for accepted photographs that fit our pre-cut mat sizes for the duration of the exhibition.
Juror: Mark Matsuno. Mark Matsuno is the owner of Matsuno Design Group, an entertainment creative boutique located in Glendale, California. After attending college, he landed an art director position at Dancer Fitzgerald Sample, a large advertising agency in San Francisco. From there, he moved to Los Angeles as an art director at Young and Rubicam West. Before starting Matsuno Design Group, he freelanced with many of the top advertising agencies in town. During the course of his career, he has worked closely with scores of local photographers and illustrators in creating a successful body of print advertising.
